1. Introduction

MindGate is a mobile application that gates access to selected apps with a short general-knowledge quiz. We believe privacy is a feature, not a setting. This Privacy Policy explains what limited information the app handles and how we protect it.

2. Information We Collect

App preferences: the list of apps you choose to gate, your difficulty settings, and cooldown duration.
Quiz activity: answers, streaks, and topics mastered, used to adapt difficulty and show your stats.
Device information: anonymous diagnostics (OS version, crash reports) when you opt in.
No personal identifiers: we do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or browsing history.

3. Where Your Data Lives

All quiz activity and preferences are stored locally on your device. MindGate works fully offline. We do not maintain user accounts and we do not upload your activity to any server.

4. How We Use Information

To deliver the gating experience and quiz questions.
To adapt question difficulty to your performance.
To display personal stats, streaks and progress.
To diagnose crashes and improve app stability (only if you opt in).

5. Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party. MindGate contains no advertising SDKs and no analytics trackers.

6. Permissions

MindGate requests only the permissions strictly required to function, such as the ability to display over other apps (Android) or Screen Time access (iOS) so it can present a quiz before launching a gated app. Permissions can be revoked at any time from your system settings.

7. Children's Privacy

MindGate is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Rights

Because data stays on your device, you have full control: clearing the app or uninstalling it permanently removes all stored data. You can also reset your stats at any time from the in-app settings. If applicable laws (such as GDPR or CCPA) grant you additional rights, we will honor them upon request.

9. Data Security

We use the security features of your device's operating system to protect on-device data. While no method of storage is 100% secure, keeping data local significantly reduces exposure compared to cloud-based alternatives.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced inside the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
